The Port of Savannah is a critical economic asset for every Georgia county.  Its success spurs investment, expansion and job growth throughout the state.  Last fall, the deepening of the Savannah River got underway which will allow the Port to handle larger freighters that will be using the Panama Canal when its widening is completed.  Learn more about the logistics behind deepening the harbor and the economic value of the Port of Savannah as a primary gateway for trade in the United States.  Georgia Ports Authority Governmental Affairs Manager Lee Beckmann will start at the convention center with a quick overview of the Georgia Ports and then take you on a “windshield” tour of the Port of Savannah.  ACCG External Relations Director Kathleen Bowen will help host this afternoon excursion.  Limited space and pre-registration is required. This trip also has a $25 registration fee to assist with transportation costs.
